Sources say Dallas has also been trying to fill the one current opening on Kidd's bench by hiring a former NBA head coach to join him. Former Raptors and Suns head coach Jay Triano, who spent the past three seasons as an assistant in Sacramento, has emerged as a top candidate for that role. It's believed, however, that Triano is sought by other teams as well. The opening was created when Mavericks assistant coach Alex Jensen accepted a lucrative offer to become a head coach in the college game at his alma mater: The University of Utah.
